I use the horses body language to help diagnose why he is behaving the way he is, this way I can use the training technique best suited to your horses needs.
The techniques I use in retraining are all totally humane, stress, fear and pain free. I work closely with vets, farriers, physios and saddlers to ensure the welfare of your horse at all times.
The different systems I use are:
This is a training method using habituation to increase your horse's confidence with something that he is scared or unsure of. It is done with a tiny step by step programme so the horse is happy and confident with each step before moving onto the next. There is no reward or punishment with each step so the horse learns there is no need to react.
This is a humane way of changing the consequence of a certain behaviour. For instance, unwanted behaviour results with harder work and treats can be used to reward behaviour which would usually be associated with an unpleasant consequence.
This is when the final goal cannot be reached immedietly and the horse is rewarded for each step closer to the final goal.
This is where each step of the training programme is repeated to make sure the horse has fully learned each step and commits it to long term memory. This helps the horse to remember what he has learned in times of stress and makes the retraining programme more of a long term fix.
I pay close attention the the horse's body language to be fully aware of how he is reacting to certain stimuli, I also teach you as the handler/owner how to do the same.
All the training systems are based on the horse's basic instincts and are designed so that you can fit them into your busy day, in most cases a 'little and often' sessions are more beneficial than long sessions.
